sarracenia rubra
Sarracenia rubra 'Ancestral' Taylor Co, GA
A cultivar group covering Mike's two S. rubra 'Ancestral' clones from Taylor County, GA, distinguished by habit. See member-clone pages below for individual entries.
Background
S. rubra 'Ancestral' is found in Georgia and reportedly South Carolina, and Mike (post 1, 2012-06-04) cites the prevailing view that this form is "the ancestor of S. rubra ssp. gulfensis." Mike has two distinct clones from a Taylor Co, GA collection — they share the cultivar name but express very differently:
- Clone A stays small and short, with a S. rubra ssp. rubra-like clumping habit.
- Clone B can grow as tall as S. rubra ssp. gulfensis and forms beautiful clumps.
Both clones photograph with similar dark-red coloration on top of the trap.

December 2012 update photos
The December 2012 photos in this thread (post id 1991) did not
identify which clone was being photographed. Those four photos
live on this group page rather than being arbitrarily assigned to
a child clone. See the ambiguous_photos field in the
frontmatter.
