- Type
- single clone locality lettered series
Origin
Old Dock, Columbus County, NC ssp. venosa wild population. Mike's lettered series from this site spans at least Clones A through H, implying a substantial collection of distinct individuals from this single locality. Clone H stands out for its phenotype that spans typical-venosa, ssp. purpurea-like, and montana-like traits.
Standout traits
- Slim-yet-slightly-bulbous trap form.
- Montana-like lid coloration — dark red veins on green background.
- Cool-night-driven color intensification.
- Robust — survives collection-reorganization stress.
Photos
4 Mike-Wang photos from November 2012.
Standout traits
- Slightly bulbous + slim trap form — Mike (post #1, 2012): 'almost reminds me of S. purpurea ssp. purpurea'
- Dark red veins in the lid against green background — 'montana-like' contrasting color
- Color intensifies under cool nights + sunny days
- Vigorous when grown well (davidgreen, post #2, 2014)
Cultivation
davidgreen's 2014 acquisition went through a temporary low-light phase during a collection reorganization — under those conditions the red color faded but the plant remained vigorous. Implication: color is light-dependent but the clone is robust.
