- First described
- 2023
- Type
- single clone
- Cultivar
- 'green giant'
Origin
A large S. psittacina var. okefenokeensis from Covington Co, Alabama.
Standout traits
- Trap size large for the variety.
- Phenotype shifts with light: shaded → green + giant; full-sun → red
- still large.
- Name derives from the green-shaded phenotype; under full sun the clone reds up but Mike kept the name to avoid confusion.
Cultivation notes
Currently due for repotting; psittacinas were not divided in the last winter cycle.
Standout traits
- Huge trap size for okefenokeensis.
- When shaded, traps stay green and large — origin of the cultivar name.
- Reds up in full sun while still producing large traps.
- Need part shade to live up to the 'green' part of the name.
Cultivation
Tolerates shade with green-trap presentation; full sun reds up. Plants in thread are due for repotting (psittacinas were skipped in last division cycle).

Naming
"Green giant" — when first 'discovered' in Mike's collection, the plant was shaded by neighbors and produced 'huge-mungus' green traps. Mike kept the name even though the clone reds up under full sun.
