- Type
- single clone
- Cultivar
- 'deep red, compact'
Origin
A red okefenokeensis selection from Ware Co, Georgia. Technically capable of giant okee size, but in Mike's climate it presents as a "large red minor" with compact clump form.
Standout traits
- Compact, clump-forming habit.
- Deep red color in full sun.
- Strong light dependency: sun-side red, shaded-side green on the same trap.
- Some summer color development possible — atypical (Mike usually sees this clone color only in fall/winter).
Cultivation notes
Direct full sun is required for full color. Cooler conditions (fall/winter) trigger expression in Mike's NorCal climate; LEDs or deep-south climates would advance the color window.
Standout traits
- Forms beautiful, compact clumps over time.
- Color development concentrated in fall/winter in Mike's climate.
- Capable of giant size (okee) but presents as 'large red minor' in NorCal.
- Trap sides facing direct full sun color up red; shaded sides stay green — clear light dependency.
- Some summer color development possible (2024-07 update) — atypical.
Cultivation
Color requires direct full sun. Could color earlier under LEDs, greenhouse, or in deep-south climates. In Mike's NorCal climate, fall/ winter is when full color appears.
