A chameleon Baldwin Co alba uniquely capable of producing strong fall traps under heavy shading — defies Mike's fall-leucophylla- induction model (which holds that direct light on the growth point is required at specific developmental stages). Long- lasting traps. 12 Mike photos (2018-2020).
Standout traits
- Defies Mike's fall-leucophylla-trap-induction model: produces strong fall pitchers WITHOUT direct light hitting the growth point — uniquely shade-tolerant for fall trap initiation
- Var. alba expression
- Strongly chameleon — not the easiest clone to turn very white
- Surprising late-summer trap production (Mike, 2020-07)
- Long-lasting traps that hold up well into winter (Mike, 2020-12)
Cultivation
- Atypical light requirements. Most leucos need direct sun on the growth point at certain stages to push fall traps. This clone defies that — produces fall traps under heavy shading.
- Right environment required to coax white-throat expression.

Naming
Mike's label — refers to the clone's defiance of Mike's fall-leucophylla-trap-induction hypothesis (see thread 2565). Even when completely shaded all summer/fall by surrounding vegetation, this clone produced a beautiful fall trap.
