A southeasternmost-range S. leucophylla — Sunbelle Exotics' clone B — capable of solid red fall color. From a unique Franklin Co, FL population reported (in 2014) to be threatened by pine encroachment. Documented in a single 2014 thread.
Origin
Wild-origin S. leucophylla from Franklin County, FL — likely the southeasternmost stand of the species. Per Sunbelle Exotics (post 2, 2014-04-15), this site has no other Sarracenia species present, including no psittacina. Population colors range widely from intense red (clone B) through traditional patterns; some plants are very large.
Mike acquired his division ostensibly from Wes (Sunbelle Exotics) in or before 2014 ([VERIFY] — Mike phrased it as "I think I acquired a division from Wes?").
History
- Wild collection / Sunbelle Exotics' selection: year [MISSING].
- Pre-2014: Mike acquires from Sunbelle.
- 2014-04-08 (post 1): First forum documentation. Notable cross-reference: Mike used this clone as the father plant in a documented "leucophylla RED clone select" cross (thread 914).
- 2014-04-15 (post 2): Sunbelle Exotics provides population context — southeasternmost stand, no other Sarracenia species, pine encroachment reported.
- 2014-04-15 (post 3): Mike adds context about population diversity.
No follow-up Mike-posts in this thread; the clone was not documented further here.
Standout traits
- Solid red potential in fall.
- Average vigor, but divides readily — propagates well.
- Subtle population-distinct look.
- Strong breeding parent — Mike singles it out for hybrid use.
Cultivation notes
Standard S. leucophylla care. Don't judge by spring pitchers. Plan a longer establishment timeline.

Standout traits
- Can turn solid red during the fall — Mike (post 1, 2014-04-08)
- Average vigor — 'not particularly fast growing, but it's not slow either'
- Produces divisions readily — propagates well
- Forms nice specimens once fully established
- Subtle visual differences from other-population leucophyllas — 'a subtle unique look compared to plants from other populations'
- Used as a father (pollen) plant in a notable Sarracenia leucophylla 'RED' clone select cross by Mike (per his 2014 reference to thread 914) — breeding-wise 'phenominal'
- Spring pitchers are not the showstopper for this clone — fall is when color peaks
Cultivation
- Not a fast grower, but reliably propagates by division. Plan a longer establishment timeline than for vigorous clones, but expect good return through divisions.
- Fall is when color shows. Spring pitchers don't represent the clone's potential; wait for fall for the solid-red expression.
- Standard S. leucophylla culture otherwise.

Naming
Sunbelle Exotics' designation 'clone B' — implying clones A, C, etc. exist in their stock from the same wild-origin grow-out. The 'RED' descriptor flags the fall color potential.
