Origin
An ESA-listed S. jonesii clone from Henderson Co, North Carolina. Mike pursued this clone for 20+ years before acquiring a division in 2024.
Mike's distribution principle
Mike calls out the contrast between collectors who hoard rare clones ("the only ones to have a certain clone") versus his own approach: "prefer that everyone has a division of anything that I have in the collection." Goal: distribute widely so that even after Mike's death, the lineage persists across multiple collections.
Standout traits
- 20+-year acquisition pursuit.
- Visually similar to California Carnivores' jonesii clone — possibly same source population, unverified.
- Per alexis: yellow + red coloration reminiscent of a flava ornata.
Distribution constraints
ESA prohibits interstate trade without permits; Mike will distribute California-only.
Standout traits
- Extremely rare clone — Mike pursued for 20+ years (heard of in late 1990s/early 2000s; first saw a photo ~2010).
- Mike: 'reminds me of California Carnivores clone' (CC's clone) — possibly same source population, unverified.
- Per alexis: 'has the yellow and red of a flava ornata.'
- Endangered species — interstate trade restricted by ESA without permits.
- Distribution plan: California-only, since Mike doesn't pursue ESA permits.
Cultivation
Recently acquired (2024); fall traps anticipated for further documentation.
