- Type
- breeding line multi clone
- Cultivar
- 'Golden Catesbaei'
Origin
A Mike-bred F1 cross: yellow S. flava var. flava × a yellowish (less-red) S. purpurea ssp. venosa. Of ~60 seedlings, 6 stood out as super yellow and were separately tagged + propagated.
Standout traits
- Upright hood, super yellow.
- All 6 winners separately propagated (mother lines kept independent for future "winner" identification).
- Best traps in spring/summer; little late-summer/fall trap output observed so far.
- Compared by podsnfins to an Australian cultivar called 'Tina'.
Cultivation notes
Full sun + undisturbed conditions required for full color. Mike expected first availability ~July 2024.
Standout traits
- Striking SUPER YELLOW upright hood — defining trait.
- 6 of ~60 F1 seedlings stood out as super yellow; all 6 separately propagated.
- Reddish-yellow body in current photos — pure yellow body still uncertain at maturity.
- Best traps in spring/summer; little late-summer or early-fall pitcher production observed.
- Reminiscent of an Australian clone 'Tina' (per podsnfins).
Cultivation
Color requires full sun and undisturbed conditions. Each separate-mother division line was tagged independently to track which is "the one." Mike expected first availability ~July 2024.
