Origin
A Mike-held S. flava var. rugelii population from a large private parcel in Brooks Co, Georgia — reportedly the largest extant rugelii stand in GA. Mike has sampled from 3 different bogs on the property. Recently entered cultivation. Same private property referenced in the Brooks Co minor population entry (C0628).
Site context
Per nclarkii: managers burn annually for quail-hunting purposes — flowers rarely persist to seed set, which complicates ongoing seed acquisition.
Standout traits
- Well-defined red throats (ERT) visible even in tiny seedlings.
- Mike: "winner winner chicken dinner" — strong winner-marker for rugelii at small size.
- Population genetically healthy and diverse as of 2026.
Cultivation notes
Multi-bog material; not yet at full vegetative maturity in 2026.
Standout traits
- Population recently entered cultivation.
- Defining trait: well-defined red throats — unusual for rugelii (most produce a 'lame line' until traps are vegetatively mature).
- ERT character visible even in tiny seedlings — a strong winner-marker per Mike.
- Mike: 'genetically healthy and diverse' as of 2026.

Cultivation
Multiple sub-clones across 3 bogs sampled. Population not yet at vegetative maturity by April-May 2026; Mike anticipates 2027 will show full color potential.

Naming
Locality only — population entry. (Mike's running joke: 'Brooks Garcia Co, GA'.)
