A standout sub-selection from Mike Wang's S. flava var. ornata
'improved' breeding line (~decade+ of selection for clean,
heavy red venation). One individual emerged with a SOLID red
throat instead of the line's signature heavily-veined throat;
its trap was also unusually red in 2018. 4 Mike photos
(2018-04-16). See parent line at ../improved/.
Standout traits
- Solid red throat — distinct from the heavy-veined throat that defines the 'improved' breeding line
- Trap normally heavily-veined with a lot less red pigment between veins
- 2018 expression: trap also unusually red
- Selected as a freak/standout phenotype within a Mike-bred, multi-generation ornata breeding line
Cultivation
No specific cultivation guidance in the source thread.
- Mike notes the throat phenotype may be year-stable or may require a specific environmental cue — open question as of 2018-04.
- Throat coloration described as "very environmentally induced" in the broader 'improved' line.

Naming
Sub-selection of S. flava var. ornata 'improved' (Mike's multi-generation, decade+ breeding line for clean heavy red venation). Mike spotted one individual in the improved series with a SOLID red throat — atypical compared to the heavily- veined throat of standard 'improved' siblings — and labeled it 'improved solid red throat'.
