A Mike-bred Okaloosa Co atropurpurea selected for extreme dark-purple-to-black expression — the darkest atropurpurea in Mike's collection (2019), with similar ease-of-coloring as Waccamaw but going much darker. Painfully slow growing. Distinctive silver-blue cuticular sheen visible against the dark background. 23 Mike photos (2019-2024).
Standout traits
- Extreme dark expression — purplish-black under outdoor NorCal conditions, likely solid black under greenhouse
- Easy to color up like Waccamaw, but goes much darker than Waccamaw
- Mike's framing: 'darkest atropurpurea in the collection' (2019); 'second most valuable plant' in collection at time of writing
- Painfully slow growing
- Dipped(ish) lip
- Distinctive silver/blue cuticular sheen on peristome and ribs (visible only against dark background; rubs off easily) — Bogman (2019) explains as cuticle wax/cutin platelets
- Trait highly genetic — same conditions as standard atropurpurea siblings, dramatic difference in expression
Cultivation
- Painfully slow growing; not suitable for fast distribution.
- Cool weather slows pitcher aging — color development needs full pitcher maturity to express.

Naming
'2AT' = Mike's Okaloosa Co atropurpurea breeding-line code. 'super dark' for the standout extreme dark-purple-to-black expression. Mike (2019) considered renaming to 'BLACK' but too many tags already in circulation.
