- First described

- Type
- single clone
- Cultivar
- 'elegant'
Origin
A red-pigmented S. alata from Stone Co, Mississippi, in Mike's collection. Mike notes the clone could mature into a nigropurpurea (dark purple-black) but pending that confirmation he is calling it an atrorubra. Origin/year not stated.
Standout traits
- "Amazingly red and shapely" — Mike's description.
- Robust to weather abuse — held color/shape through wind, hail, and rain.
Cultivation notes
Documented past peak color (Feb 2023 thread opening). 2024-01 update shows continued strong performance.
Standout traits
- Amazingly red and shapely — possibly heading toward nigropurpurea (dark purple-black) once it deepens further.
- Held color/shape after multiple wind, hail, and rain events — robust under abuse.
Cultivation
Color likely peaked a few months before the Feb 2023 thread opening. Mike's 2024 January update shows continued strong color/shape after another season.
